Farmer says crops are looking good compared to last year’s flooding

A northwest Missouri farmer who was flooded out last year says her crops are looking good this year, “This year it’s fun to be farming again. You know, hope springs eternal.”

Meagan Kaiser and her husband grow corn and soybeans near Carrollton, Missouri and had a few weather challenges this year, “Some drought stress that we definitely noticed had some impact on our corn and then our corn is looking pretty good. It’s come out of that. Then, we got a LOT of rain last week and we were worried about our beans but the water receded and we think we’re doing all right.”

Kaiser says this year is nothing like last year when a levee broke and flooded their farm. They only harvested 50 acres of soybeans in 2019. The levee was fixed earlier this year. Kaiser is an officer with the United Soybean Board.
