Midwestern states in need of hemp growers for new database

Several land-grant universities are seeking growers to participate in the Midwest Hemp Database Project to fast track regional agronomic information on hemp.

Michigan State University’s James DeDecker tells Brownfield MSU, Purdue University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin are partnering with Wisconsin-based Rock River Laboratory and Pride Analytics for the database.

“One of the biggest questions that the hemp industry has right now is what varieties are going to maximize my CBD yield while coming in under the legal threshold for THC.”

Rock River Laboratory will be testing THC and CDB levels as well as gathering information about plant varieties and management practices.

DeDecker says participants will receive discounted cannabinoid profiling but might still need to submit regulatory samples for state compliance.
