Minnesota corn and soybean condition improve slightly on the week
Crop development and condition remain above normal in Minnesota.
The USDA says as of Sunday, 90 percent of corn is silking. That’s nearly two weeks ahead of last year and eight days faster than the five-year average.
Eighty-four percent of the crop is rated good to excellent, a slight improvement on the week.
For soybeans, 89 percent are blooming and 55 percent are stetting pods.
That’s nine days ahead of last year and five days ahead of normal.
Soybeans rated good to excellent improved from 83 to 84 percent on the week.
Sugarbeet condition declined slightly to 92 percent good to excellent.
And the second cutting of alfalfa hay is 79 percent done, three days ahead of last year but two days behind average.
