Indiana crops running ahead of average

Timely rains continue to keep Indiana crops from drought stress.

The USDA says crop and soybean condition ratings 65 percent good to excellent.

Eighty-four percent of the corn crop is silking and 14 percent is in the dough stage. Seventy-nine percent of soybeans are blooming, and 38 percent are setting pods.

The second cutting of alfalfa hay is 88 percent complete and the second cutting of other hay is 66 percent complete.
