Research continues at Syngenta Grow More site

Phil Krieg talks about soybean pests at the Syngenta Grow More Experience site in Ina, Illinois.

COVID-19 has changed the way agronomists share research information, but the research is still being done.

Phil Krieg is an agronomy service representative for Syngenta and helps manage the company’s Grow More Experience site on the Rend Lake College Campus in Ina, Illinois. He tells Brownfield the biggest challenge was not having college staff on site to help.

“The college has been shut down since March so a lot of the resource folks that we rely on to help us here were not available.”

Nevertheless, Krieg says they did get all their trials done. The next challenge is conveying information to growers and agronomists while following health guidelines under COVID-19.

“We are still in the planning phase if we will have any tours or not. If we do, we will definitely stay within the guidelines of social distancing, provide all of the safety equipment and stay in groups of ten or less.”

He says they will also share photos and videos so growers and agronomists can get the information they need from the important research.
