Indiana Farm Bureau launches Adopt a Classroom program

Indiana Farm Bureau is launching Adopt a Classroom, a new Agriculture in the Classroom program. The program allows INFB to continue educating Hoosier school children about agriculture despite the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agriculture in the Classroom is a statewide program led by INFB. In a typical year, volunteers visit classrooms to provide short lessons about ag. Due to safety concerns, many schools will restrict visitors this fall, and some classrooms may continue e-learning programs. With the launch of the new program, volunteers will interact with students virtually and may also send classroom activity kits containing seeds, books, worksheets, or activities to go with the virtual lessons.

Education Coordinator Lindi Kocher says INFB hopes the program will give teachers another option for providing students with a diverse education– whether students are home or in the classroom this fall.
