Reaction to USDA’s cattle market investigation report
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association says it is pleased that USDA has produced a report into the market dynamics impacting cattle producers across the country.
NCBA says the issue remains a central topic of conversation in the cattle industry and that the information in the report will “be very helpful and timely to the cattle industry’s robust discussion of cattle markets and price discovery during NCBA’s Summer Business Meeting in Denver next week.”
Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer says USDA’s investigation “underscores the immediate need for reforms to strengthen the cattle industry”. She says the report confirms her “serious misgivings” about the many factors that are working to destabilize the marketplace.
Fischer says she will be introducing legislation soon aimed at providing equity and transparency for all market participants.
