Minnesota corn and soybean condition ratings down slightly on the week

Minnesota crop conditions declined slightly last week, but remain some of the highest in the country.

The USDA says as of Sunday, 83 percent of corn and 80 percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent.

Corn development is nearly a week ahead of normal with 70 percent of the crop silking.

Almost 30 percent of soybeans are setting pods, five days faster than average.

Oat harvest is seven percent complete with 68 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.

Sugarbeet condition declined slightly to 94 percent good to excellent.

And the second cutting of alfalfa hay is 71 percent done, six days ahead of last year and just ahead of the five-year average.
