Ethanol production climbs higher

U.S. ethanol production moved higher last week, the twelfth week in a row with an increase.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 931,000 barrels a day, up 17,000 on the week, but still 135,000 barrels below a year ago as the industry grapples with slower demand caused by reduced travel linked to COVID-19.

Blending demand and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market were both lower than the previous week’s levels.

The domestic supply tightened slightly, down 12,000 barrels from the week before at 20.608 million and 2.757 million barrels below a year ago following the cuts in production earlier this year.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out August 12th.
