Missouri crop condition makes progress

Twenty-one percent of Missouri’s corn crop was silking as of Sunday with nearly 70 percent rated good to excellent.

Ninety-two percent of soybeans emerged with more than 60 percent rated good to excellent.

Cotton squaring reached 24 percent which is behind the five-year average but improved to 37 percent good to excellent.

Rice headed is at two percent with 58 percent of the crop rating good to excellent.

The winter wheat crop is slightly ahead with 86 percent of the crop harvested.

The USDA says slightly warmer, wetter conditions last week allowed 71 percent of topsoil moisture to be adequate.
