Iowa State Fair to hold some 4-H, FFA livestock shows

This year’s Iowa State Fair has been postponed, but most of the 4-H and FFA livestock shows will go on. Entry systems for 4-H and FFA are open with a deadline of July 10th and the 2020 Fair Special Edition events will be held in August on the state fairgrounds in Des Moines, but there will be changes. While most of the livestock events will be held as usual, some have been canceled including the carcass and performance contests, and no Showmanship classes will be conducted. The show will follow COVID-19 related social distancing, hand washing, and sanitation guidelines from the Iowa Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control.

Attendance will be restricted and while exhibitors will not be allowed to sleep in the barns or the Youth Inn, camping is allowed and regular vehicle and trailer parking will be free of cost.
