Missouri corn, soybeans ahead

Corn emergence and soybean planting are ahead for Missouri.

Ninety-six percent of Missouri’s corn crop is emerged, with 70 percent rated good to excellent.

Soybeans planted are ahead of the five-year average at 89 percent planted and 63 percent rated good to excellent.

Ninety percent of the of the cotton crop is planted, slightly behind last year and is rated 31 percent good.

Rice emergence is up to 97 percent with 54 percent of the crop rating good to excellent.

The winter wheat crop is on track with 41 percent harvested, and 45 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

The USDA says slightly warmer, dryer conditions last week still allowed 79 percent of topsoil moisture to be adequate.
