Harvest price for corn projected to be lowest of RFS era

University of Illinois farm management specialist Gary Schnitkey recently projected a harvest price for corn of $3.10.

If that holds, the price that will be used to set crop insurance guarantees will be at levels not seen since before the onset of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

And while the RFS played a huge part in lifting corn prices during the past decade, Schnitkey says he doubts ethanol demand can be a silver bullet this year or next.
