Missouri FFA holds virtual convention

Missouri FFA announced its officer team for the 2020-2021 year Wednesday during the Virtual State FFA Convention. Interim President Justin Eddy said the virtual conference was still valuable.

“It’s definitely still a very cool experience just to be able to recognize Missouri FFA members for all of their accomplishments this last year,” he said. “And to be able to recognize our new officer team as well as our past officer team.”

The Missouri FFA Executive Secretary Keith Dietzschold said the retiring officer team should be commended for putting together the virtual convention and having a positive outlook as they step down without the normal Columbia convention.

Eddy said while future opportunities for the new officer team are unclear due to COVID-19, they are preparing for multiple scenarios.

“We’re preparing both avenues,” he said. “We’re preparing to do events in-person and we’re also preparing to do them virtually.”

Dietzschold said FFA not being able to do events like in-person chapter visits might allow the organization to reach new audiences virtually.

“Maybe, possibly, the way we look at it, that opportunity [virtual events] might get out to more students than we’ve had in the past,” he said.
