Congresswomen optimistic about US-China trade

U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski of Indiana says she remains optimistic about US-China trade after US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer’s comments during a hearing today.

“Words count, and boy words really count when you’re talking publicly about trade,” she says. “I think it’s good for our farmers here to hear that he expects the agreement to be upheld by China and it’s good too because China monitors everything that we say as well.”

She says it’s also reassuring that Lighthizer says he’s looking out for farmers’ interests.

“He talked about if it’s important to the American farmer, it’s important to him and he has got their back,” she says.

Walorski represents Indiana’s second congressional district.
