98% of Ohio corn, 93% of soybeans planted

Corn and soybean planting in Ohio is ahead of the five-year average, according to the latest USDA crop and weather report.

Ninety-eight percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, and 86 percent is emerged. The crop is rated 63 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 93 percent planted, and 77 percent emerged. Sixty-four percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Winter wheat is rated 71 percent good to excellent.

The first cutting of alfalfa hay is 86 percent complete and the first cutting of other hay is 75 percent complete.

Ninety-six percent of oats are emerged, and 44 percent are headed.
