More than half of Wisconsin fairs canceled for 2020
More than half of Wisconsin’s local fairs won’t happen this year. The Wisconsin Association of Fairs says 45 events by members and associate members have been canceled as a precaution to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
New cancellations include the La Crosse Interstate Fair, fairs in Monroe, Winnebago, Adams, Vilas, Grant, Dodge, and Vernon counties, and the Athens Fair. The Outagamie County Fair will go on without the carnival, vendor booths, open class exhibits, and junior fair non-animal exhibits.
Also, Iowa announced the cancellation of its state fair Wednesday following the lead of other states including Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Indiana, and Ohio. Illinois has not issued a final decision about their Illinois and Du Quoin events.
