FFA members recognized as Stars Over Illinois

Illinois FFA announced the 2020 Stars Over Illinois winners during their virtual state convention Wednesday evening.

Tanner Mickey of the Taylorville FFA Chapter was named the Star Farmer for his production of beef, sheep and swine as well as corn, soybeans and wheat.

Alea Ogle of the Streator FFA Chapter was named the Star in Agribusiness for her work and ownership of Blue Eyed Rascal Baking Company.

Lance Moritz of the Streator FFA Chapter was named the Star in Agriculture Placement for his work with Moritz Farms, Moritz Lawn Care and an auction service.

Eric Schafer of the Taylorville FFA Chapter was named the Star in Agriscience for his research projects in animal science and bovine reproductive technologies.  

Sidney Stiers of the Williamsfield Chapter, Patrick Royer of the Pleasant Plains Chapter, Kylie Neisler of the Lincolnwood Chapter and Owen Torrance of the West Prairie Chapter were recognized as Discovery Stars.

Ely Boulds of the Eldorado Chapter, Nathan Erbsen of the Eastland Chapter, Maddie Fugate of the Mahomet-Seymour Chapter and Connor Erbsen of the Eastland Chapter were also recognized as American Star nominees. They will compete for their respective titles at the 93rd National FFA Convention in October.
