Arkansas crops: 96% cotton and 93% rice is planted

Light to moderate precipitation fell across the state helping Arkansas farmers make another push in planting progress.

Ninety-three percent of rice has been planted with 88 percent emerged, with 64 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.

Seventy-six percent of soybeans have been planted, 65 percent emerged, and 65 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Ninety-six percent of cotton has been planted and 90 percent has emerged, and 81 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent

Ninety-four percent of peanuts have been planted and 88 percent emerged, and 91 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

Sixty-four percent of the state’s corn crop is rated good to excellent and 3 percent of the crop is silking.

Twenty-eight percent of the winter-wheat crop has been harvested.

Seventy percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting and 49 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

81 percent of Topsoil and 85 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
