South Dakota State Fair planning continues

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture says planning continues for the South Dakota State Fair, scheduled for September 3-7 in Huron, South Dakota.

In a new release, Department of Agriculture officials say state fair planning will look different as they navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the release, State Fair Director Peggy Besch says their highest priority is to implement measures so guests, participants, and the community can take precautions necessary to stay healthy. Fair officials say components of the fair may be scaled back to ensure Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines are being implemented. Interim Agriculture Secretary Larry Rhoden – who’s also the lieutenant governor – says South Dakota continues to set the example of getting ‘back to normal’ and continuing opportunities for South Dakota youth.
