Dietary committee requests report extension
The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is requesting an extension for its report to the USDA and Health and Human Services Department.
In a letter to U.S Agriculture Secretary Perdue and Health Secretary Alex Azar, DGAC’s executive director, Nina Teicholz, outlined concerns from at least one member about the process and review of scientific studies. She said there are concerns the committee cannot finish its work under the time constraints and cited a lack of consistency in standards used by subcommittees.
The committee’s expert report on dietary guidelines was due to be released this month.
