Illinois: 92% of corn, 74% of soybeans planted
Illinois planting progress is inching towards the finish line as the calendar turns to June.
The USDA reports as of Sunday 92% of the state’s corn crop is planted with 76% emerged, in line with the five-year average. The crop is rated 56% good to excellent.
Soybean planting reached 74% with 50% emerged also in line with average. In its first soybean rating of the year, the USDA deems 57% of the crop is in good to excellent condition.
Winter wheat is rated 56% good to excellent with 86% of the crop headed. Another 10% of alfalfa hay reached first cutting since the week before bringing the total to 29%.
