Hog inventory report should give clues on corn feed use

COVID-19 has hit corn demand hard from several fronts, including livestock feed demand.

Dale Durchholz, principal at Grain Cycles, tells Brownfield the USDA’s next hogs and pigs inventory report will be huge, whether you’re in the grain business or the livestock business because it will outline some of the issues recently facing the industry, “The difficulties we had in the slaughter industry over the last month to six weeks, what impact did they really have? How many hogs did we really liquidate and dispose of? What kind of sow slaughter might we have seen back at that point? What kind of farrowing intentions are we going to see in the pipeline?”

The USDA’s Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report is out the afternoon of June 25th.
