Farmers have until Monday to sign up for marketing loans on stored grain
Farmers have until Monday to sign up for a marketing loan on stored grain.
Minnesota Farm Service Agency executive director Joe Martin says this can be a helpful tool when experiencing cashflow issues.
“One nice thing is we did get additional flexibility that while those loans are traditionally nine months, they’ve been extended to 12 months. So a bigger window if you need to explore that option to help with cashflow.”
He tells Brownfield there’s been more interest in marketing loans this year.
“It’s a nice low-interest (loan) to help pay the bills, either inputs or just other on-farm living expenses.”
Again, the deadline to sign up for a marketing loan is June 1st.
Martin says interested producers need to contact their local FSA office.
