ADM and Marfrig announced ‘plant-based’ joint venture

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Brazilian beef processor Marfrig have announced a joint venture to create plant-based meat substitutes for the South and North American markets.

Under the new venture, called PlantPlus, Marfrig will handle production and distribution of new plant-based products using its South American facilities. ADM will provide technical expertise and plant-based ingredients through its network of U.S.-based facilities, including a new pea protein plant in North Dakota.

The two companies have already been working together to produce plant-based meat substitutes for the South American market.

Marfrig is one of the world’s leading beef producers and the world’s largest beef patty producer.
