Minnesota corn planting 98% complete, soybeans 88%

Nearly all of Minnesota’s intended corn acres and almost 90 percent of the soybean acres are planted.

The latest crop report from USDA says as of Sunday, corn planting is 98 percent complete.  Emergence is 80 percent, which is three weeks ahead of last year and eight days ahead of the five-year average. 

The first corn condition rating of the season shows 81 percent rated good to excellent.

Soybean planting, at 88 percent done, is 20 days ahead of a year ago and 11 days faster than normal.

Soybean emergence is 46 percent, more than two weeks ahead of last year and six days ahead of average.

Spring wheat planting is 86 percent complete. 

And 90 percent of sugarbeets are planted, one day slower than last year.
