A report on the financial impact of the COVID-19 shut down on the City of Muscatine will be presented during the Muscatine City Council’s In-Depth session Thursday (May 14). Council members will also receive the list of businesses receiving the Economic Assistance for Muscatine Small Businesses loans.
The Muscatine City Council will meet in virtual session at 7 p.m. Thursday. In-depth (or study) sessions are typically used to receive reports from City staff on a variety of topics including ongoing projects and for Council members to ask questions of staff about the reports. Action items are normally not a part of In-depth sessions.
Finance Director Nancy Lueck has worked with the various department heads to review areas where revenue losses might occur and areas where expenditures can be reduced during the second half of 2020. Her report will highlight the anticipated shortfall in revenue for the remainder of the calendar year and the work of City staff to meet those anticipated shortfalls.
Community Development Director Jodi Royal-Goodwin will present to the Council the list of businesses to be awarded COVID-19 economic assistance through the City’s Economic Assistance for Muscatine Small Businesses program. The program is a public-private collaboration between the City of Muscatine, the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, and the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to assist in small business recovery from the lock down.
