Indiana Packers Corporation to reopen May 8

Indiana Packers Corporation, a global pork supplier, plans to resume limited production at its Delphi, Indiana, facility on May 8.

IPC says it worked with the Indiana State Department of Health and the Carroll County Department of Health to test its more than 2,000 employees and contractors.

About 300 workers tested positive, including those who were asymptomatic. Those who tested positive will be subject to quarantine. The remaining workers will be allowed to return to work when operations resume.

The plant processes about 17,300 hogs per day or just over 3% of the daily slaughter capacity.

The facility temporarily suspended operations on April 24 and completed employee testing May 1. During that time, IPC says it added more physical barriers and hand sanitizer dispensers and underwent deep cleaning and plant-wide sanitation.
