Tyson to reopen its Waterloo pork plant

Tyson plans to resume limited production at its Waterloo, Iowa pork plant on Thursday.

The Waterloo plant, which is Tyson’s largest pork plant, has been shut down since April 22nd. The company says, since then, it has been testing employees for COVID-19, sanitized the entire facility, and made changes to promote social distancing and add other protective measures.

The plant has nearly three-thousand employees and can process nearly 20-thousand hogs per day, about four percent of the pork processing capacity in the U.S.
