ACE ready to help fuel retailers take advantage of HBIIP grants

The American Coalition for Ethanol is looking forward to helping retailers expand the biofuels market through USDA’s Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program.

Ron Lamberty with ACE tells Brownfield he was pleased to see some of their input taken to heart as USDA rolls out competitive grants worth up to $100 million.

“It will make it easier primarily for individual store owners and small chain owners to get their hands on the money, because those groups didn’t participate as much in the first round several years ago when USDA did a similar program.”

He says most fueling stations could add higher blends of ethanol using existing equipment.

“When we’re trying to make a change to something like E15, the volume is going to come when there’s a lot of conversions as opposed to everybody putting in new pumps. And most people have equipment that is compatible, with a few exceptions.”

ACE was also pleased to see geographical spread factored into the program.  Lamberty says E15 needs to be available all over the country, especially in underserved markets.
