US-UK trade talks to begin today
The United States and United Kingdom are set to begin trade talks today.
US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will videoconference with British International Trade Secretary Liz Truss.
Reports indicate the first round of negotiations will continue for two weeks with about 200 negotiators.
The U.K. has said animal welfare and food safety standards must be protected in any trade agreement. Lighthizer previously said he believes animal welfare and access to Britain’s National Health Service can be worked out during trade talks.
