House Small Business Committee member frustrated with Paycheck Protection Program
A member of the U.S. House Small Business Committee is upset that farmers have had problems signing up for the Paycheck Protection Program.
Congresswoman Angie Craig is a Democrat from Minnesota.
“Family farmers should’ve been allowed to participate in the first round of funding, and the legislative intent was that they would be able to. So I was very frustrated with the Small Business Administration and the inability to open that up to farmers quickly enough.”
She tells Brownfield with many farmers still waiting for their applications to be processed, the second round of funding is about to run out.
“There were hundreds of thousands of loans teed up, applications in the cue, when we sent the additional dollars to the PPP program.”
Craig says depending on how quickly small businesses are able to open up, Congress will have to consider appropriating even more dollars into the Paycheck Protection Program.
