Coronavirus causes $4B in ag losses in Nebraska

Nebraska ag director Steve Wellman says Nebraska has sustained four billion dollars in agricultural losses related to the coronavirus.

Wellman says half of that amount—two billion dollars—is direct losses to the ethanol industry.

“We have 25 plants across the state,” Wellman says. “Less than half of those are producing ethanol at this point in time and the ones that are still producing ethanol are at a reduced rate—under capacity.”

Wellman commented during a weekly town hall on Nebraska Educational Television.
