Two Iowa packing plants extend shutdowns; employees at Kansas beef plant test positive
Two Iowa packing plants have extended their shutdowns for at least one more week.
The National Beef Packing plant in Tama has suspended operations until April 20 after numerous workers contracted COVID-19. And Tyson says its pork plant in Columbus Junction, which suspended production on April 6th, will remain closed through the end of this week.
National Beef also announced that some employees at its beef plant in Liberal, Kansas have tested positive for the virus. The company did not provide further details.
