COVID-19 relief bill expands Minnesota’s Rural Finance Authority

Part of Governor Walz’s $330 million COVID-19 relief bill includes expansion of Minnesota’s Rural Finance Authority.

The legislation signed into law Saturday authorizes provisions to give the state agency in charge of farmer loans greater flexibility to allocate funds.

Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says it’s important to make sure farmers whose businesses are affected by the pandemic have resources to help them get through this difficult period.

Last month Governor Walz signed a bill allocating $50 million to the RFA.
