Walz signs RFA bill into law

Governor Walz signed legislation this week to replenish the state agency that provides loans to Minnesota farmers.

Commissioner Thom Petersen tells Brownfield the Rural Finance Authority bill was the number one priority for the Department of Agriculture this Session.

“We are still processing loans. A lot of our workers are working from home, but they’re able to do that as we set them up. So we have loans that are processing as farmers need help putting a crop in and doing other things. So that was good news.”

He says $50 million will go into the RFA account.

The Governor also signed Disaster Assistance Contingency legislation to reimburse local communities following natural disasters.
