Muscatine Power and Water suspends disconnects for non-payment, waives late fees

Muscatine Power and Water (MPW) is temporarily suspending disconnections for all customer’s electric, water, and communications services during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) public health emergency. The Utility also plans to waive late fees to help customers who are enduring financial hardships and will collaborate with other organizations/partners offering similar solutions.

“MPW understands customers have uncertainty surrounding COVID-19,” said Gage Huston, General Manager. “We want to assure customers that access to utility services will continue to be available. This temporary suspension is meant to allow customers to concentrate on the health and well-being of their families and businesses during this challenging and fluid situation.”

The COVID-19 situation may create financial stress for some customers. MPW is offering our most flexible payment arrangements and is prepared to work with every customer on a case-by-case basis. Although the MPW lobby is closed, customers may call 563-263-2631, then press 3 to speak with customer service.

“The last thing we want our customers to worry about now is whether they will be without power or other essential services,” Huston said.

Though it’s unknown how long this state of emergency will last, MPW continues its commitment of community support by heeding the advice of medical professionals, working with state and local officials and industry leaders. MPW’s key focus is to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and employees while also adhering to established CDC and Iowa DHS health protocols.
