EPA’s OIG to investigate dicamba registrations

The EPA’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) plans to investigate the agency’s 2016 and 2018 registrations of dicamba herbicides.

The purpose of the investigation, according to an agency report, is to determine whether the EPA adhered to federal requirements and “scientifically sound principles” when it registered the new dicamba herbicides in 2016 and renewed them in 2018.

The investigation is one of several dozen projects listed in the EPA-OIG’s annual plan for audits, evaluations and investigations.
