Big 10, Big 12 cancel men’s basketball tournaments due to coronavirus threat

The Big Ten and Big 12 conference have cancelled the remainder of their men’s basketball tournament, joining other major college sports conferences and sports that have shut down in response to the COVID 19-Coronavirus outbreak.

The number 5-seed Iowa was scheduled to play number 12-seed Minnesota in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis at 1:20 p.m.

Iowa State was eliminated Wednesday from the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, losing to Oklahoma State 72-71.

The status of the upcoming NCAA basketball and wrestling championships has not yet been announced. The NCAA announced Wednesday they would conduct the basketball tournaments without fans in attendence.
