Ohio grower is looking ahead to 2020 growing season

South Central Ohio Farmer Jed Bower says the best part of the previous growing season is that it’s behind him.

“It didn’t matter if you farmed 10 acres or 10,000, it was rough,” he says. “We were wet and then at the end of July we went into a drought and didn’t get any rain for months.”

He says he is looking forward to a new growing season.

“We’re focused on soil health and water quality in Ohio and I know sometimes it can be a struggle for us, but we believe that’s the right thing to do as farmers so personally I’m going to stick to my 50-50 rotation and hope for the best,” he says.

Bower serves on the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers action team.

Brownfield interviewed Bower, who serves on the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association action team, during the 2020 Commodity Classic in San Antonio.
