Boy, 16, arrested for attempted murder in Muscatine shooting

Muscatine County Attorney Alan R. Ostergren has announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on an attempted murder charge in a Feb. 21 shooting on East 6th Street.

Jattathias Jalee Hodges was arrested Feb. 25 and charged as an adult. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

The criminal complaint alleges that on Feb. 21 at approximately 10:24 p.m., several rounds were fired at another 16-year-old at a home in the 600 block of East 6th Street, Ostergren said.

The victim was struck a single time in the shoulder, requiring emergency treatment. The injuries are not life-threatening.

Hodges is jailed on a $300,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 9 at 9 a.m.
