Hy-Vee stores will no longer remain open 24 hours, a move to align with consumer shopping trends, the company said in a news release.

Stores will now close at midnight and reopen at 5 a.m.

The move also offers an opportunity to reorganize both overnight and daytime stocking procedures.

“This will make a difference to our customers as the majority of our stocking will be done during times when customers are not shopping, helping to keep our aisles clear of clutter so customers can have a more pleasant shopping experience in our stores,” the release said. “This move also allowed us to reevaluate how we operate our stores so that we can become more efficient.”

Since the opening of the company’s first store in Beaconsfield, Iowa, Hy-Vee has a proud history of innovating to meet the needs of customers, the release said.
