Muscatine, Iowa – Matthew A. Shoppa, 51, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Matt was born on August 22, 1968, in Muscatine, the son of Gary and Barbara Swab Shoppa.
He was a mechanic and owned The Tread Shop with Karen. He loved drag racing, swap meets, and working on cars. Matt loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karen Kochneff of Muscatine; daughter, Kelly Shoppa of Madison; two grandcats, Ridley and Viktor; son, Eric Kochneff and wife, Laura, of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Francie and Clara; father, Gary Shoppa of Muscatine; five brothers, Tom Shoppa and wife, Becca, of Fruitland, Jeff Snyder and wife, Debbie, of Muscatine, Jay Snyder of Muscatine, John Rockwell, and wife, Christy, of Minneapolis, and Tom Rockwell and partner, Don, of Palm Springs; five sisters, Amy TeStrake of Davenport, Julie Castillo and husband, Rolando, of North Carolina, Jill Rice and husband, Doug, of Muscatine, Amy Rockwell of Minneapolis, and Melinda Rockwell and husband, Shan, of Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara; his stepmother, Nancy; brother-in-law, Barry; father-in-law, Don; and mother-in-law, Carol.
