MUSCATINE, Iowa – William Hale Collins, 90, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at his home.

Services and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa will be held at a later date. The Ralph J.Wittich-Riley-Freers funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Hale was born December 4, 1929 in Lamoni, Iowa and died December 14, 2019 in Muscatine, Iowa. He was the first of four children born to William E. and S. Camilla Holben Collins. At the time of Hale’s birth his father Bill was a student at Graceland College in Lamoni. When the school term ended, the family moved to Oakland, California, Bill’s hometown. Hale grew up in the San Francisco Bay area until the family returned to Iowa in 1942. He spent most of his life as an ordained minister and was also a retired electrical engineer.

Hale was known as a generous, wise and compassionate person with a dry sense of humor. He loved God and loved his family.

Hale is survived by his wife of 65 Years, Barbara Lee; his children, Bill and wife Diane Kurilecz of Raleigh, North Carolina; Betty and husband Dan Chapman of Muscatine, Iowa and Jim of Lamoni, Iowa; grandchildren Steven and Mal Collins of Raleigh, North Carolina and Gabriel, Larkin and Ian Chapman of Muscatine, Iowa; sister Vivian and husband Glen Campbell of Wichita, Kansas; brothers David and wife Janis Collins of Seattle, Washington and Robert and wife Carol Collins of Modesto, California; sister-in-law Nelda Ratcliffe of Lafayette, Indiana and brother-in-law Stanley and wife Linda Ratcliffe of Woodstock, Illinois; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
