Famous Marionettist Comes To West Liberty!

Artist Kurt Hunter

“Artist Kurt Hunter uses understated wit, astounding grace and a great menagerie of delicately stringed creatures to usher us into the odd and endearing world of marionettes.” Minneapolis Star Tribune

Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre continues its West Liberty performing season with a Friday evening show for adults and teens and two Saturday shows for families.

See Sock Puppet Serenade on Friday evening, November 8 at 8:00 P.M. and Penguin in my Pocket Saturday at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, both at Owl Glass Puppetry Center, 319 N. Calhoun, West Liberty. Tickets for Friday are $10.00 in advance or $12.00 at the door. Saturday tickets are still only $5.00.

On Friday, see a dozen intricate marionettes including singing socks and a dancing box on strings. Saturday, see Hunter, armed with a concertina and wearing an oversized coat, stroll onto stage and pull a puppet stage, scenery, and marionettes out of his pockets and set up the show in front of the audience’s eyes.

The Hunter Marionettes have performed in West Liberty many times, at Owl Glass Puppetry Center and at the West Liberty Children’s Festival.  Kurt’s beautifully crafted, fully articulated marionettes have wowed his audiences every time!  Since his last visit, Kurt has refined and added many marionettes, including a marvelously witty “sock puppet” marionette.  He performs with his creatures in a warm, humorous manner. A real treat for any marionette lover, young or old!
