New to Muscatine airwaves, but not new to radio

Listeners to Muscatine’s Vintage Sound 93.1 will have noticed a new voice carrying over the airwaves for the past few weeks. Radio veteran Kevin Walker has joined the team at the radio farmhouse, if on an interim basis.

Kevin was asked to join the team to help with some of the tasks typically handled by station staple Tim Scott has been out on medical leave.

Kevin has been helping around with radio operations, production and as an on-air personality. He has been splitting his time between his roles at Vintage Sound, and the Bettendorf-based photography, video and DJ company that he owns.

Kevin is no stranger to radio, having worked in the industry in the Quad City area since 1989, spending time at several stations over the years.

“Kevin brings us great radio experience and good business insights,” said station manager Jim Elias. “His enthusiasm and ability to connect with our team makes him a valuable asset. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

While in Muscatine, Kevin says he enjoys the variety.

“I get to do a little bit of everything,” he said. “It is a smaller crew, so we all get to step in and help wherever it is needed.

“The team is newer, but everyone has the common goal of serving the community. This is a good team, made of good people.”

Kevin can be heard mornings on Vintage Sound 93.1.
