Basketball fun for toddlers and parents

The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the Smart Start Basketball program.

Smart Start Basketball is an introductory basketball program designed to teach young children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball. With help from their parents, participants ages three and four will have the opportunity to learn ball handling, shooting, and agility skills from trained Parks and Recreation staff. Parent participation is required for this program.

Smart Start Basketball will be held in the large gymnasium at West Middle School on Sundays from Oct. 27 through Nov. 17. Two sections are available to choose from including 2-2:45 p.m. and 3-3:45 p.m.

The registration fee is $25 for Muscatine residents and $30 for non-residents. A tee shirt is included in the fee. The last day to sign up is Monday, Oct. 21, 2019. Do not wait to reserve your spot. Visit the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department office in the lower level of City Hall, 215 Sycamore, to sign up in person.
