The Muscatine YMCA has started the construction for their expansion project. This means that certain changes will be made to the area to make it as convenient as possible for Y members during construction.

For the next six months, the only entrance and exit are the doors toward the soccer field near Y play and kids club. The service center will be near this entrance for people to check in as normal. The offices, business desk, and former service center are closed off due to the expansion, with the new business desk and offices located by the new entrance along with the service center. The teen center is also closed, which means there are no TVs for the teens to watch, but Brandon and Chris, who are in charge of the teen room, have other fun activities for the teens to do in the gym and multi-purpose room.

“We’re all a little cramped, but the gym, weight room, locker rooms and pool are all still in use,” says Janette Basulto, the building supervisor.

When you enter through the new entrance of the building, you can go straight across the gym and from there you have access to locker rooms and the exercise areas. Staff at the service center will be able to help direct you.
