Muscatine Young Professionals Network (YPN) gathered the evening of December 8 for an ugly Christmas sweater party at Rosebowl. Each month, YPN hosts a Third Thursday event at local establishments to orient and engage members in the community while networking with other professionals and giving back to local organizations.
These events are supported by various companies in the area. December was supported by Vintage Sound, the Voice of Muscatine, and Monsanto. Through the months of November and December, YPN focused their charity efforts toward Two Weeks of Love. Young Professionals in attendance were encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Toy Time. Along with the toys donated by members, the YPN organization also made a contribution on behalf of all members.
Thursday’s event attracted current members and new members. Royce Barnett, manager of the new Starbucks location, attended for the first time. Royce said he heard of the organization from his realtor and YPN representatives. “I just moved to Muscatine for this job, and networking is a good way to get to know people,” Barnett said.
YPN is in the midst a membership drive for 2017. If you are interested in learning more about YPN and the opportunities offered, visit www.ypnmuscatine.org or find them on Facebook, www.facebook.com/ypnmuscatine, for upcoming events.
