Glen Dall and Joe Grunnet of Minneapolis, MN, Chris Shepard of Sedona, AZ, Doug Grunnet and Pat O’Connor of Morris, IL, and Mike Grunnet of Greensboro, GA, made up Team in this year’s RAGBRAI ride that finished in Muscatine on Saturday. Each year, this team selects a charity along the route to raise money for, and this year they selected the Flickinger Learning Center of Muscatine. Team GuestDriver has raised $13,455 this week. Flickinger qualified for a 2:1 matching grant from the Howe Foundation making the total $51,147.

Flickinger administers after-school programs for students in need. The programs provide tutoring, homework help, a warm evening meal before going home for the evening, and a backpack full of nutritious meals for the weekend. The center houses a facility that has computers and learning centers to aid each student with the resources they need. Flickinger also offers adult English as a Second Language/English Language Learners courses and citizenship preparation courses.

Flickinger is also home to a CoderDojo. CoderDojo is a worldwide, free coding club for kids. This program teaches kids what is behind the technology they use, introducing them to the importance of computer science and engineering.
